French Toast – a name that makes people drool the world over – is generally out of the reach of vegetarians as its other name is “Eggy Bread”! It is basically bread that is soaked in beaten eggs, then deep-fried and drizzled with honey. This vegetarian version is just as tasty! Here, we have dipped the bread slices in a mixture of fresh cream and milk sweetened with sugar and thickened with corn flour, instead of the traditional egg-based batter. Another positive twist in this recipe is that it is cooked on a tava rather than deep-fried. Had fresh and hot, topped with honey and cinnamon powder, it is nothing short of a taste of heaven!
Bread Upma is one of the peppiest ways to have bread! Although it is a great way to use up leftover bread, many people like it so much that they would go and buy a fresh pack of bread just to make this upma. Indeed, with desi shades of chillies, onions, tomatoes and spice powders, tempered traditionally, and perked up with tomato ketchup and lemon juice, this snack is replete with varied flavours that are sure to delight your palate. You will also thoroughly enjoy the unique texture of this upma, which can be had as a breakfast or evening snack.

An off-beat dish, which gives you the satisfaction of eating a homely idli as well as a scrumptious sandwich. Yes, the Stuffed Rava Idli Vegetable Sandwich is an innovative recipe in which the rava idli batter is layered with grated veggies and green chutney and then steamed. This dish is tasty enough to have as it is, because the rava idli batter is tempered and flavoured well, but for added taste, you can serve it with coconut chutney and sambhar . Khichu is a quick and easy snack, which never fails to sort out a sudden hunger pang! This all-time favourite Gujarati snack has a dough-like consistency and a semi-spicy taste, which is very pleasing to the palate when had hot and fresh. Here is a fabulous khichu made with bajra flour. It has a nice, homely taste that combines beautifully with curds, flavoured with spice powders and an aromatic tempering. Serve the Bajra Khichu with Masala Dahi immediately after preparation as it tends to thicken very fast. Have a go at other bajra based snacks like the Bajra Onion Muthia and Bajra, Rice and Sprouts Moong Puda .
Pancakes are favorites across the world. In this Indianised version, the not-so-common buckwheat combines with sour low-fat curds and bottle gourd to make iron and fibre-rich pancakes. Have it along with Green Chutney or Mint and Onion Chutney for a delicious treat.

Batata poha is so wholesome and tasty that you can make it any time of the day, as Breakfast , supper or a simple snack. The potatoes and onions act as a soft and moist interlude to the chewy poha, while the traditional tempering, ginger-chilli paste and lemon juice add to the flavour.
