Foods to Avoid with Diabetes

Diabetes is a situation where you want to eat the right kind of foods which doesn't spike your blood sugar levels. When you eat food, its broken down in your body to give energy. However, not all foods are equal and we need to see the impact it has on you. When carbohydreates are consumed in the form of potatoes, corn, spinach, samosas, idli, dosa etc they are broken down by your digestive system into glucose which provides energy to your cells. Cells need energy in the form of glucose.

When you eat food, your blood glucose levels rise. Thats normal and what will happen. But if you keep eating unhealthy food or processed food, your blood sugar levels will rise to a higher level which will shut down the fat burning process and net result is fat will accumulate in your body. Imagine eating a Samosa. You feel great for a while and a surge of energy as your blood sugar levels have gone high and create a demand for more insulin. You have eaten junk which will be stored as extra fat in the body.

Given below are a list of foods to be avoided by Diabetics. These foods for Diabetics are best avoided as they can cause harm to our health and have little or no nutritional value. These foods can escalate blood sugar levels almost instantaneously. Avoid food with high fats especially foods with bad or unhealthy fats.

Sugar is one of the main causes for Diabetes

The biggest culprit for unhealthy lifestyle is SUGAR. Keep it at arms length and its hidded in our foods without you realising it. Sugar causes inflammtion in the body and compromises the ability of white blood cells to destroy harmful toxins. Sugar has empty calories and ZERO nutritional value. It will just sit as fat and raise your blood sugar levels leading to obesity and long term health issue like Diabetes, Cholesterol and Cancer

We find sugar in our Ketchup, Soft Drinks, Yoghurt, Pastries, Cakes, Biscuits, Mithai, Ice-cream and the list goes on. Cut this out or start cutting back in small doses over several weeks. Slowly you will start feeling  more energy in your body. You will loose all the extra fat you put on through sugar. Sugar is one of the major culprits for Diabetes.

To live a healthy life style, eat small healthy meals on a regular basis. This will prevent your body from having large surges in blood sugar levles and hence hasten the fat burning procees in your body to make you lean. Also keep to the minimum this list of foods restricted for Diabetics and know the basics of ABC Diabetes care. If you must have sweets, then eat in moderation from these Diabetic friendly sweets.
