Chinese Veg Accompaniments

Every dish needs to be complemented with the right accompaniments in order to bring out its full potential. Try serving Pickled Cucumber with rice or noodle dishes, or soy sauce with Steamed Chinese Bread Buns, and experience the magical touch of accompaniments! Chinese cooking extensively uses sauces, pastes, kinds of vinegar, and oils, to enhance the flavor of the recipe. Soy sauce, Hoisin sauce, Vinegar, Plum sauce are some most common sauce used to stir-fry.

Kimchi is the first dish that arrives when you are dining at a Chinese restaurant. Accompanied by a tray having an array of sauces like soy sauce, chili sauce and Chillies in Vinegar. You can use these condiments to customize dishes according to your palate.

Crispy Fried Noodles popularly known as 'Timepass' is served with schezuan chutney and are served as a snack while the order arrives. It is made by frying Hakka noodles till golden coloured and crisp. They are also used as a topping for soups, giving a bite to dishes like Triple schezuan rice and also, toss a quick snack like Chinese bhel.

Bread is not only a popular accompaniment in Italian cuisine but also, in Chinese cuisine. Steamed Chinese Bread Buns are soft and succulent and are usually sandwiched with pickled vegetables.

Chinese spice-mix
Just like Indian cuisine has an assortment of spices, Chinese cooking has one important spice-mix called the Chinese 5 Spice Powder that combines five basic flavours, namely sweet, sour, bitter, salty and umami. You can make it in small batches and store in a dry, airtight container in a cool and dry place and use as and when required.

Chinese sauces

Honey Chilli Sauce is made by combining honey, red and green chillies with tangy lemons. This sweet-spicy sauce complements all kinds of dips, Salads, Soups and appetizers.

Hot Garlic Sauce is a spicy sauce that works well as a dip for crunchy starters or hot dim sums. It can even be used to toss vegetables and make stir-fries or appetizers like Vegetable Balls in Hot Garlic Sauce. Similarly, you can prepare Chilli Garlic Sauce that complements fried appetizers like spring roll, Vegetable, Paneer and Noodle Balls.

Schezwan Sauce is the most versatile and popular Chinese sauce that can be used to whip up amazing oriental delights. From tongue –tickling starters like Schezuan Style Paneer and Bean Sprouts and Fried Capsicum in Schezuan Sauce to a fiery main course like Spicy Stir Fry Noodles in Schezuan Sauce, schezuan sauce with its bold flavours, brought about by pungent ingredients like garlic and chillies works wonder! It is even used to make fusion dishes like Schezuan Chopsuey Dosa, Stuffed Cheesy Schezuan Pav Recipe, Schezuan Fries Hot Dog Sandwich.
