An easy but irresistible paratha that is made of everyday ingredients, the Cheese Paratha is an all-time favourite with cheese-lovers, especially kids.
A stuffing of cheese perked up with coriander and spice powders gives these whole wheat parathas a tasty and gooey centre.
You must enjoy this delectable dish immediately on preparation if you want to experience the joy of biting into the freshly molten cheese, because it tends to get chewy after a while.

- Combine the whole wheat flour and salt in a deep bowl and knead into a soft dough using enough water. Keep aside.
- Divide the cheese stuffing into 6 equal portions. Keep aside.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions.
- Roll a portion of the dough into a 125 mm. (5”) diameter circle using a little whole wheat flour for rolling.
- Put a portion of the cheese stuffing in the centre of the circle.
- Bring together all the sides in the centre and seal tightly.
- Roll again into a circle of 175 mm. (7”) diameter circle using a little whole wheat flour for rolling.
- Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and cook the cheese paratha using 1 tsp of peanut oil until golden brown spots appear on both the sides.
- Repeat with the remaining dough and cheese stuffing to make 5 more cheese parathas.
- Serve the cheese paratha immediately.

Cheese Paratha recipe with step by step photos
For making the dough of cheese paratha, in a deep bowl, take 1 cup whole wheat flour.
Add salt to taste.
Gradually add water to form a dough. The quantity of water will depend upon the quality of flour. Knead into a soft dough using enough water. We have used approx. 5 tbsp of water. While making stuffed paratha always knead the dough little soft so it is easy to stuff and roll the parathas.
For making the cheese stuffing of cheese paratha, take a block of cheese and grate it. Measure 1 1/2 cups and transfer into a deep bowl. You can even take part mozzarella, cheddar cheese to make the cheese paratha.
Add the chopped coriander. Also, you can add ginger, garlic, onion or finely chopped vegetables for an added flavour and crunch.
Add the chilli powder. The cheese stuffing can be made spicier to suit your taste buds.
Add the chaat masala. We have used homemade chaat masala.
Add the garam masala.
Add a pinch of salt. You can even skip adding salt as cheese already has it.
Mix well and our cheese stuffing is ready to make the cheesy parathas. You can also use hands to mix it very well. Keep aside.
For preparing the cheese paratha, divide the cheese stuffing into 6 equal portions. Keep aside.

Flatten one portion in between your palms. Dip in flour and dust off excess flour.
Roll a portion of the dough into a 125 mm. (5”) diameter circle using a little whole wheat flour for rolling.
Put a portion of the cheese stuffing in the centre of the circle.
Bring together all the sides in the centre. Seal tightly and invert the stuffed dough portion.
Roll again into a circle of 175 mm. (7”) diameter circle using a little whole wheat flour for rolling.
Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and gently place the cheese paratha over it. Cook one side of the paratha till you see small bubbles on top of the paratha.
Flip the paratha and cook using 1 tsp of oil until you see golden brown spots on both sides.
Press the cheese stuffed parathas on the edges and cook well.
Repeat with the remaining dough and cheese stuffing to make 5 more cheese parathas.
Serve the cheese paratha immediately.
