Corn bhel is a variation to the classic Indian bhel puri recipe! Here, we have replaced puffed rice with corn kernels. The corn chaat is super quick and easy to make, prepare corn bhel for your family as an evening snack or as a side dish with a meal!

If you think the sweet corn you get at roadside stalls, seasoned with pepper or chaat masala is exciting, get set for a wild roller-coaster ride now, because that is what this Corn Bhel promises you.

From salad and soups to subzis and chaats, sweet corn kernels are a pleasant, crunchy addition to any food dish. They are quick and easy to cook and with an addition of very less ingredients, you can create delightful fresh corn bhel snack in a jiffy!

To make corn bhel recipe we have combined boiled corn kernels with onions, de-seeded and chopped tomatoes, pomegranate which provides crunch, green chutney, sweet chutney, chaat masala to enhance the flavours and lemon juice for tanginess! Next, add chili powder, you can even add chopped green chilies if you want it spicier! Add raw mango and coriander followed by crushed papdi and mix everything well and our corn bhel is ready to be served!!

For Corn Bhel
2 cups boiled sweet corn kernels (makai ke dane)
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/4 cup deseeded and finely chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup pomegranate (anar)
2 tbsp green chutney
1/4 cup sweet chutney
1 tsp chaat masala
1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp chilli powder
2 tbsp finely chopped raw mangoes
1/4 cup finely chopped coriander (dhania)
1/2 cup coarsely crushed papadis
salt to taste

For The Garnish
1/4 cup sev

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl and mix well.
  2. Serve the corn bhel immediately garnished with sev.

Recipe Notes of Corn Bhel

  1. We are using fresh corn kernels but, you can use frozen or canned corn kernels depending upon the availability.
  2. American sweet corn kernels are preferable as they lend a natural sweetness to the corn bhel recipe | fresh corn bhel | corn chaat |
  3. Apart from onions and tomatoes, you can even add boiled potatoes, grated beetroot or carrot to make the corn chaat tastier.
  4. Also, you can add garlic chutney to the corn bhel. The green chutney and sweet chutney can be prepared prior to making the corn bhel recipe | fresh corn bhel | corn chaat |

How to make corn bhel:

  1. To prepare the fresh corn bhel, in a deep bowl, take 2 cups cooked sweet corn kernels. If using fresh corn then remove the kernels from the knob. You can either cook the sweet corn kernels in a microwave or a pressure cooker.   2. Add chopped onions. If you are jain then skip adding them.
  3. Next, add the finely chopped tomatoes. Before adding, we have deseeded them which is totally optional.
  4. Add the pomegranate. They not only provide a pleasant sweetness to the corn bhel but, also add a nice crunch.
  5. Add the green chutney. Our website has many recipes for green chutney but, this green chutney with mint is ideal for this corn chaat recipe.

  7. Add the chaat masala and lemon juice. It provides a tangy flavor to the corn bhel.
  8. Add the chilli powder. Also, you can add finely chopped green chillies if you want spicier. Adjust the quantity as per your preference, skip adding if making for kids.
  9. Add the chopped raw mango and coriander.

Tarla aunty ,thanks for the wonderfully simple and healthy combination. I used to pressure cook sweet corn with nearly the same ingredients. Your version is tastier and fancier looking.
