A tongue-tickling raita that you must try in the mango season. The flavour of mangoes combines beautifully with the pleasant taste and creaminess of fresh curds. Slightly sweetened and tinged with cardamom, the Mango Raita tastes heavenly. Make sure the curd is fresh and not sour, or it will spoil the taste. Also, the mangoes need to be ripe and sweet. Enjoy this yummy raita with puri or rotis, or just enjoy it plain chilled! When the mango season is in full blast.

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups mango cubes
1 1/2 cups fresh curds (dahi)
1 1/2 tbsp powdered sugar
1/4 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder

  1. Combine the curds, powdered sugar and cardamom powder in a deep bowl and mix well using a whisk.
  2. Add the mangoes and mix well. Refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Serve chilled.

  1. Mango, the king of fruits is available for like 3 months in the entire year. Though there are ways to preserve the mango pulp, but the joy of making sweet treats using the mango during the season is just delightful. Here are few of my favorite recipes made using mangoes :

How to make Mango Raita

  1. For preparing the mango raita, wash mangoes and remove the skin of mango. We have used ripe sweet mangoes of the alphonso variety.
  2. Cut the mango into cubes and keep aside.
  3. For making the quick and easy mango raita recipe, in a deep bowl take fresh curd. Ensure it is not sour or else the raita will be khatta. We have used homemade curd made using this recipe of fresh curd.
  4. Add the powdered sugar. You can substitute it with honey or totally skip if your mangoes are sweet enough.
  5. Also, add the cardamom powder. A few strands of saffron can also be added to elevate the taste of the mango raita.
  6. Mix well using a whisk till the sugar incorporates very well.
  7. Add the mangoes.
  8. Mix well and refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes. Another way to make the aam ka raita is by mixing curd with ½ cup of mango pulp and add 1 cup of mango cubes.
  9. Serve the mango raita chilled. Since, this is a sweet raita recipe we are not adding any spices, but if you like, sprinkle little jeera powder and chilli powder to elevate the taste of mango raita.

Mango Raita.. wow.. this sweet raita is just too good.. The sweetness is perfect.. the mangoes and curd goes so well.. with a light taste of cardamom.. This has to be served chilled.. I enjoyed this raita with plain Puri.. Thank you for this recipe..
