Ingredients

For Garlic Tomato Chutney
6 to 8 large sized garlic (lehsun) cloves , finely chopped
1/4 cup chopped spring onions whites
1 tbsp finely chopped spring onion greens
2 dry red chillies (pandi) , soaked
1 cup finely chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
1 tsp olive oil or oil
salt to taste
Method
For garlic tomato chutney

    For garlic tomato chutney
  1. To make garlic tomato chutney, drain the soaked chillies and chop them finely.
  2. Heat the oil, add the onions and garlic and sauté over a slow flame for 4 to 5 minutes till they are lightly brown.
  3. Add the chillies and salt and sauté again.
  4. Add the tomatoes and cook for 10 to 12 minutes over a slow flame till the tomatoes are soft and can be mashed lightly.
  5. Cool completely and add the coriander and spring onion greens and mix well.
  6. Serve garlic tomato chutney chilled or at room temperature.

  1. Garlic Tomato Chutney is a healthy condiment or chutney made by tomatoes and garlic and it is not like any normal chutney, we have given it a twist. If you like this recipe given below are the links to similar healthy chutneys :

Method For Garlic Tomato Chutney

  1. To make Lehsun Tamatar ki Chutney,soak 2 red chillies in warm water for 15 minutes.
  2. Then finely chop them.
  3. For Garlic Tomato Chutney, first heat the oil in a broad non-stick pan
  4. Add garlic to it. You need to peel the garlic cloves and finely chop the garlic. You will need 1½ tbsp of finely chopped garlic.
  5. Add the spring onion whites now. The spring onion whites lend a slight sweet taste to this Garlic Tomato Chutney.
  6. Sauté the spring onions whites and garlic on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.
  7. Next add the Kashmiri red chillies.
  8. Then add 1 cup of finely chopped tomatoes. While chopping them, avoid the white part and discard it.
  9. Add salt as per taste
  10. Add 1 tbsp of water for cooking.
  11. Mix well with the help of a ladle.
  12. Cook on a slow flame for 3 to 4 minutes. Keep stirring the mixture for Garlic Tomato Chutney continuously and lightly mashing with the back of a spoon. This will help in releasing  juice from the tomatoes so as to get the moist chutney like consistency, as this chutney is chunky and not blended till smooth.
  13. Switch of the flame and add the flavourful herb – coriander. Add finely chop coriander so it blends well with the mixture.
  14. Add the spring onion greens. These add a great mouthfeel to the Lehsuni Tomato Chutney.
  15. Mix well using a spoon.
  16. Chunky Garlic Tomato Chutney is ready for serving!!
