Tarla Dalal    You can cook in idli stand, but it will turn flat. Also if you do so, do not fill the batter in the mould completely.

I tried this recipe as I was looking for gluten free recipes. I added onions and grated carrots to this recipe. It turned out amazing. Made coriander chutney along with this to go... Loved it... Thank you for the recipe.

I tried it today.. came out pretty good. Taste was nice too. But I would really appreciate if you can share some tips to make sure appe are cooked fully from inside without burning. Are the cavities to filed fill or half with batter to get nice round appe?

Tarla Dalal    Hi Manisha, To cook them fully from inside without them turning brown, cook on a slow flame. Only when they are golden brown in colour, you turn them around. Also, you can cover with a lid and cook them. You have to fill the cavities completely with the batter.
