Buttered and “chutneyed” slices of bread are sandwiched with a succulent paneer mixture flavoured with tongue-tickling spice mixes like garam masala and pav bhaji masala.

Add some crunchy veggies like capsicum and onions to the sandwich, and what you have is a creation beyond comparison. The Paneer Sandwich is one awesome deal that nobody can refuse!

Make sure you serve it immediately because it will get soggy and chewy after a while, like most grilled sandwiches do. So, enjoy it immediately after grilling.

Ingredients
8 bread slices
4 tsp butter for spreading
8 tsp green chutney
2 tsp butter for brushing
8 sliced onions
4 capsicum slices
salt and freshly ground black pepper (kalimirch) to taste

To Be Mixed Into A Paneer Stuffing
1 1/2 cups crumbled paneer (cottage cheese)
1 tsp chilli powder
a pinch of turmeric powder (haldi)
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp pav bhaji masala
1 tbsp milk
salt to taste

For Serving
tomato ketchup
Method
    Method
  1. Divide the paneer stuffing into 4 equal portions.
  2. Place 2 bread slices on a clean, dry surface, spread ½ tsp of butter and 1 tsp of green chutney on each bread slice.
  3. Place a portion of the paneer stuffing on a buttered-chutney bread slice and spread it evenly.
  4. Arrange 2 onion slices and 1 capsicum slice over it. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper evenly over it.
  5. Sandwich it with the other buttered-chutney side facing downwards and press it lightly. Spread ½ tsp of butter evenly over it.
  6. Grill the sandwich in a greased hot griller till it turns golden brown in colour from both the sides.
  7. Cut the sandwich diagonally into 2 equal portions.
  8. Repeat steps 2 to 7 to make 3 more sandwiches.
  9. Serve immediately with tomato ketchup.

How to make Grilled Paneer Sandwich

  1. The grilled paneer sandwich recipe is a really easy one. You can make it for breakfast or evening snack in no time. 
  2. Using almost the same spices & by tossing in vegetables you can make paneer bhurji, another popular breakfast option. Leftover paneer bhurji can be turned into another delight which is the Paneer Bhurji Panini.
  3. For the stuffing of the grilled paneer sandwich, we will first take crumbled paneer in a deep bowl. You can even grate the paneer. Ensure the paneer is fresh this will help you make a moist mixture. Try making paneer at home using our recipe with step by step images.
  4. Then add chilli powder. If you are making this for adults then add finely chopped green chillies instead.
  5. Now add turmeric powder. If you don’t like it, then you can skip adding it.
  6. Furthermore, add the garam masala and pav bhaji masala to give the much needed Indian touch to the stuffing.
  7. Finally, add milk and salt to taste & mix well. Milk helps in binding together all the ingredients. Also, if you are using store bought cottage cheese and the stuffing turns out to be dry, milk helps in mixing well.

  11. Place a portion of the paneer stuffing on a buttered-chutney bread slice and spread it evenly.
  12. Arrange 2 onion slices.
  13. Place 1 capsicum slice over it. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper evenly over it. If you don’t wish to add sliced vegetables, then chop them finely and add directly to the paneer mixture. Also, you can incorporate more colourful vegetables like boiled peas & corn, grated carrots to make it nutritious.
  14. Sandwich it with the other buttered-chutney side facing downwards and press it lightly. Spread ½ tsp of butter evenly over it.
  15. Grill the sandwich in a greased hot griller till it turns golden brown in colour from both the sides. Alternatively, you can even toast this sandwich in a hand toaster or use a grill pan for cooking.
  16. Cut the sandwich diagonally into 2 equal portions.
  17. Repeat steps 2 to 7 to make 3 more sandwiches. Serve immediately with tomato ketchup.
