This popular old-time favourite is so easy to prepare. Kaju Puri consists of cashewnuts, sugar and cardamom powder. To this, saffron dissolved in milk is added and then a dough is placed inside a bangle between polythylene sheets and rolled to get a perfect round and baked.

Kaju Puri recipe - How to make Kaju Puri

Preparation Time:    Baking Time:  20 minutes   Baking Temperature:  190°C (375°F)   Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 10 servings

  1. Mix the cashewnuts, sugar and cardamom powder.
  2. Warm the saffron and dissolve in 1 teaspoon of milk.
  3. Add the saffron, essence and enough milk and make a dough.
  4. Divide the dough into 10 portions.
  5. Take two small sheets of polythylene and a bangle of 50 mm. (2") diameter. Put one sheet and the bangle on a board. Place one portion of the dough inside the bangle, cover with the other sheet and roll to the shape of the bangle.
  6. Repeat with the remaining dough.
  7. Arragne on a baking dish and bake in a preheated oven at 190°c (375°f) for 15 to 20 minutes. Alternatively, grill on both sides for a few minutes.
  8. Cool and serve.

Feels gud to know the recipe of tis new dish.. I want to try it. But I don ve oven in my home. Can u please say any alternate method to prepare this??

Tarla Dalal    Hi Sushmita, Oven is the only option to make these taste the best. If you want you can try on tava, we have not tried it though.
