how to make Kashmiri red chilli paste

  1. To make red chilli paste 2 ways recipe | homemade Indian red chilli paste | Kashmiri red chilli paste | laal mirch ki paste, we need Kashmiri red chillies. These are mainly used of colour than adding fiery flavour to any dish. 
  2. Remove the stems of the Kashmiri red chillies and discard the stem.
  3. Transfer the red chillies into a deep bowl. 
  4. Add enough hot water.
  5. Cover with a lid and soak for at least 30 minutes.
  6. This is how the chillies look after soaking. They have turned soft and this helps in easy blending. 
  7. Drain the red chillies using a strainer. Do not discard the water. 
  8. Transfer the soaked and drained red chillies into a small mixer jar and cut them into big piece susing a scissor so they are easier to blend.  
  9. Add approx. 5 tbsp of water for blending.You can add the drained red water from chillies to this. 
  10. Add salt to taste. 
  11. Blend into a smooth paste. 
  12. The Kashmiri red chilli paste is ready.  Use as required.

tips to make Kashmiri red chilli paste

  1. You can also add 1 tsp oil before blending. This helps in smooth blending and also increases the shelf of the paste. 
  2. To make chilli-garlic paste, add 10 to 12 garlic cloves before blending. 
  3. This paste can be stored in an air-tight container in the freezer for upto 3 to 4 months.
