500 gms paneer
1 1/2 cups boiled hare chane (green gram)
25 mm piece ginger, chopped
5 to 6 green chillies, finely chopped
2 tbsp chaat masala
1 tbsp lemon juice
5 to 6 tbsp oil
salt to taste

For the garnishing
chopped coriander (dhania)

  1. Cut the paneer into big pieces.
  2. Fry the paneer pieces in a shallow frying pan, adding a little oil at a time till slightly brown in colour.
  3. Remove the paneer and keep aside.
  4. Add 2 tablespoons of oil to the pan and heat.
  5. Add the hare chane and ginger and cook again for a little time.
  6. Add the fried paneer, green chillies, chaat masala, lemon juice and salt.
  7. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve in banana leaves.

  1. Variation : Aloo Aur Mutter Chaat :
  2. Use 1 kg. of potatoes instead of the paneer and 2 cups of boiled green peas instead of hare chane.
