A combination of besan and chopped tomatoes with an exciting touch of spices gives you a tasty and succulent Tomato Omelette. A few other ingredients like onions, green chillies, ginger, etc., add to the crunchiness and flavour of the omelette.

For Tomato Omelette
1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
3/4 cup besan (bengal gram flour)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1/4 tsp garam masala
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
1/2 tsp chilli powder
salt to taste
1/4 cup finely chopped onions
1/2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
1/2 tsp finely chopped ginger (adrak)
1/4 cup chopped coriander (dhania)
5 tsp oil for greasing and cooking

For Serving With Tomato Omelette

tomato ketchup


For tomato omelette

  1. To make {span class="bold1"}tomato omelette{/span}, combine the besan, turmeric, garam masala, asafoetida, chilli powder, salt and ½ cup of water in a deep bowl, mix well using a whisk.
  2. Add all the remaining ingredients and mix well.
  3. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and grease it with ½ tsp of oil.
  4. Pour a ladleful of the batter on the tava (griddle) and spread in a circular motion to make a 125 mm. (5”) diameter circle.
  5. Cook on a medium flame, using ½ tsp of oil, till golden brown spots appear on both the sides.
  6. Repeat steps 3 to 5 to make 4 more tomato omelettes.
  7. Serve the {span class="bold1"}tomato omelette{/span} immediately with green chutney and tomato ketchup.
