  1. Roast chana dal, coriander seeds, chilli, coconut in very little oil to red and grind to a fine powder.
  2. Roast brinjal to medium in a vessel.
  3. Pour the tamarind extract and add salt, turmeric, asafoetida and let it boil.
  4. Add 2 cups of water.
  5. When they are tender, add the pressure cooked toor dal and boil full.
  6. Add the powder and put off flame and serve.
