Ingredients

For Green Moong Dal Chilla
1 cup split green moong dal (split green gram) , soaked overnight and drained
1 inch ginger (adrak)
3 to 4 garlic (lehsun) cloves
2 green chillies
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1/2 cup roughly chopped coriander (dhania)
salt to taste
4 1/4 tsp oil for cooking

  1. To make green moong dal chilla recipe, combine the soaked green moong dal, ginger, garlic, green chillies, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, coriander and 1 cup water.
  2. Blend to a smooth consistency batter. Transfer it into a deep bowl.
  3. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and lightly grease it with ¼ tsp oil, sprinkle little water on hot tava and wipe it.
  4. Pour a ladleful of the batter on the tava (griddle) and spread it evenly to make a thin circle of 175 mm. (7 inch) diameter.
  5. Cook it on a medium flame using ½ tsp oil, till it turns golden brown in colour form both the sides.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to make 7 more chillas using remaining batter.
  7. Serve green moong dal chilla immediately.

Dainty and colourful these chilas look very tempting, not only to kids but also to adults.. its a storehouse of protein due to the combo used here - mixed dals, paneer and sprouts... as a varaition you can replace paneer with cheese sometimes, especially when making for kids...
