Tips for Microwave Carrot Halwa Recipe

1. Pick the Right Carrots
Use tender, juicy, firm red carrots they’re naturally sweeter and give a richer flavour and colour to your halwa.

2. Grate Carrots Appropriately
Grate the carrots thicker rather than too fine so they don’t shrink excessively while cooking.

3. Pre-Grate Khoya/Mawa
Crumble or grate the khoya before adding it this helps it blend smoothly into the halwa without clumping.

4. Stir Frequently
Once all ingredients are in the bowl and in the microwave, stir every 2 minutes while cooking so the carrots cook evenly and don’t burn.

5. Control Microwave Power
If your microwave has percentage power levels, use 100% (high) as recommended but watch the halwa closely so it doesn’t scorch.

6. Serve Freshly Cooked
Microwave halwa tends to be best served immediately, as reheating can dry it out or change the texture.

7. Add Flavour Enhancers
Don’t skip the cardamom powder it gives the halwa that classic aromatic Indian sweet taste.

8. Optional Extras
For extra richness, consider garnishing with chopped nuts (almonds/cashews) or serving with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream for contrast.

My favorite dessert when dining on Indian cusine. I was excited to find such a simple-to-prepare recipe here. The first batch was superb - just exactly like what I'm served at restaurants. I still had a large quantity of mava (and an uncertain shelf-life) so I used all that remained for a second try - expanding amounts of other ingredients correspondingly. The cooking time expansion I guessed at (four times the recommended lengths in the microwave - roughly equal to the multiplier for the ingredients) and it seemed to work all right. The big problem for me was grating all that carrot - it wore me out.

Please don''t post recipe if you have not made it yourself. You have no clue how to make gajar halwa in microwave. DO NOT add milk even if Tarla Dalal says so. It is a nightmare to vaporize all the liquid. Carrots have their own moisture and its enough to cook them. Add more milk powder if you want it to be creamy.

Hi, Thank you for your suggestion ... There is no need to add milk powder as it doesnt taste very nice in this recipe, 15 minutes is not very long to cook a gajar ka halwa in a microwave..

Hi.. Is it ok to replace khoya and sugar with condensed milk.. If yes what''s the quantity of condensed milk required? Does the bowl need to be covered during the microwaving process? What''s the quantity of carrots (in Kg) used in the above recipe?
