Method
    Method
  1. Combine the coconut, garlic and cumin seeds powder and blend in a mixer to a smooth paste, adding little water. Transfer in a bowl and keep aside.
  2. Pressure cook the dal adding a little turmeric powder and salt.
  3. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid and keep aside.
  4. Heat the oil in a kadhai and add the mustard seeds.
  5. When the seeds crackle, add the onions and saute till they turn pink in colour.
  6. Add the coconut paste, tomatoes, spinach and green chillies, mix well and cover and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
  7. Add the ad and enough water and mix well.
  8. Add the salt, mix well and bring it to a boil.
  9. Serve hot with chapatis or rice.
