For the Banana and Papaya Puree

  1. For Banana and Papaya Puree for babies, firstly you have to buy the correct fruits. Banana should be firm and free of blemishes. It should be fully ripe and have a fruity sweet smell. Always prefer using Elaichi bananas.
  2. Peel the banana with hands and discard it.
  3. Place the banana on a clean chopping board and remove the 2 ends of the banana. The ends of banana are usually slightly black and best if removed and discarded. Then chop it roughly or in slices using a sharp knife.
  4. Now prepare the papaya. Firstly buy just ripe papaya and not the one which is mushy or over soft.
  5. Wash the papaya very well to ensure its free of dirt.
  6. Peel the papaya using a sharp knife and discard the peel.
  7. Cut the papaya into 2 vertically or horizontally. Deseed the papaya using a spoon. Ensure to double check that no seeds remain, as these are indigestible by babies.
  8. Place the papaya on a clean chopping board and chop it roughly.
  9. Place the papaya in a small mixer jar.
  10. Put the bananas over it.
  11. Blend it till smooth. If you baby can eat mashed food mash both together using a fork and do not blend.
  12. Serve immediately. Start with a very small portion and the gradually increase the portion size.

It is said fruits cause cold is it true? What to do then

Tarla Dalal    Fruits don''t cause cold. In fact the antioxidants in them, builds your immunity to fight various diseases. But certain fruits like banana, custard apple and papaya are best avoided if kids have cold and cough as they can aggravate the condition. Otherwise fruits are absolutely healthy.
