A mildly spiced rice which can be made very quickly. Ensure that each grain of the cooked rice is separate.

Ingredients

2 cups steamed rice (chawal)
1/2 cup thinly sliced onions
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1/2 cup thinly sliced capsicum
1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp fresh curds (dahi)
3 tbsp oil
salt to taste

For The Chili-garlic Paste
3 garlic (lehsun) cloves , crushed
3 whole dry kashmiri red chillies

For Garnishing
grated processed cheese (optional)

Method
For the chili-garlic paste

  1. Combine the dry kashmiri red chillies, garlic and approx. 3 to 4tbsp of water and blend to a smooth paste. Keep aside.

How to proceed

  1. Heat the oil in a tava and fry the onions for 1 minute.
  2. Add the chili- garlic paste and fry again for a few seconds.
  3. Add the turmeric powders, capsicum, tomato and curds and fry again for a few minutes.
  4. Add the cooked rice and salt and cook again for a few minutes.
  5. Garnish with cheese and serve hot.

This is sooo easy to make and simply delicious. The colour combination and the taste are great! This can even be made with left over rice. My firends and family loved this recipe. Worth a try !
