Vanilla Rum Cake recipe - How to make Vanilla Rum Cake

1 (18.5 oz) packet of moist yellow cake mix
1 (3.4 oz) packet of French Vanilla pudding mix
4 eggs
1/2 cup dark rum
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup dark rum
1/2 cup water
1 stick of butter
1 cup sugar
For the cake:

    For the cake:
  1. Preheat the oven at 325 degrees. thoroughly grease and flour a tube or bundt cake pan and set aside.
  2. Combine all the cake ingredients and beat with an electric mixer for 2 minutes.
  3. Pour mixture into greased pan and bake at 325 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes.


  1. While cake is baking, prepare glaze. bring all the glaze ingredients to a boil until the end result is a thick runny syrup.
  2. After cake is baked, cool for 5-10 minutes (still warm) and remove from pan.
  3. Put cake back in pan so it doesn''''t stick when glaze is poured over.
  4. Poke deep holes about an inch apart all over the cake going from the top to the bottom.
  5. Pour hot glaze over the cake.
  6. Let the cake stand for another 1/2 hour or so until completely cooled and soaked with the glaze. invert onto a cake platter.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar and serve.
