To make quick bread snack, immerse the bread slices in enough water and remove immediately. Squeeze out all the water from the bread slices and crumble thoroughly. Keep aside. Heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan, add the mustard seeds and sauté on a medium flame for 30 seconds. Add the green chillies and ginger and sauté on a medium flame for 30 seconds. Add the onions and sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes and garam masala, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring occasionally. Add the crumbled bread, tomato ketchup, lemon juice, salt and coriander, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally. Serve immediately.

The bread slices used in any form have their own charm. This masala bread is an upma like recipe made with crumbled bread. If you love spices tossed with bread, you are sure to be in love with this snack.

While the onions, ginger and green chillies add a bit of spice to the quick veg bread snack, the tomatoes, tomato ketchup and lemon juice impart an energizing tanginess.

    1. what is quick bread snack made off?  quick Indian bread snack is made from the following ingredients easily available in Indian kitchens. 12 bread slices, 2 tbsp oil, 1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson), 1/2 tbsp finely chopped green chillies, 1 tsp finely chopped ginger (adrak), 1 cup finely chopped onions, 1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes, 1 tsp garam masala, 1/4 cup tomato ketchup, 1/2 tbsp lemon juice, salt to taste and 2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania).

    1. Take a glass bowl filled with enough water to immerse the bread slices. You will need 3 glass bowls side by side to make this recipe. One to immerse the bread slice. Two for squeezing out the water. Third to put the crumbled bread in it.
    2. Immerse the bread slices in enough water. You will have to do one bread slice at a time.
    3. Remove immediately. Squeeze out all the water from the bread slices with your hands.
    4. Crumble thoroughly or tear bread slices to small pieces.
    5. Keep aside.

    11. Mix well.

    13. Add the crumbled bread.
    14. Add 1/4 cup tomato ketchup.
    15. Add 1/2 tbsp lemon juice.
    16. Add salt.
    17. Add 2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania).
    18. Mix well.

    1. You can use brown bread or whole wheat bread instead of white bread to make the snack healthy. Just dip the brown bread in water for a few seconds and follow the same procedure.

    3. Remember to saok breads for a few seconds only.

The taste was good. Instead of dipping the bread completely in water, better tear it into pieces and sprinkle water.

Tired of having the same breakfast everyday, you have one more to add to your list.. Quick bread snack is a quick recipe made of the ingredients easily available in every household. It is little spicy along with slight sweet taste of the ketchup.. Kids will love this recipe!
