Description of Spring Onion Greens
Spring onions greens is the green leaves of the vegetable spring onion which are attached to the white bulb also called as spring onion white. Yes, this green part of the vegetable is also edible.
It is sweet in taste and quite often used as a garnish, especially in salads like a green salad or potato salad or pasta salad. Young spring onion greens offer a range of taste from mild to pungent and biting. Raw spring onion green chopped make a colourful topping for sauces. Chopped spring onion greens
Wash the complete bunch thoroughly. Separate the spring onion white bulb from the green stalk (leaves). Make long slits of desired thickness in the spring onion greens vertically. Holding all the pieces together, chop at regular intervals breadthwise approximately ¼ inch in diameter, although the chopped food doesn't need to be exactly the same size.
Sliced spring onion greens
Wash the complete bunch thoroughly. Separate the spring onion white bulb from the green stalk (leaves). The bunch of greens can be sliced using a sharp knife by cutting at regular intervals to get slices of about 3 inches long. Sliced spring onion greens can be used as a garnish or salad or topping.
