This is a simple everyday roti made with jowar flour and readily-available ingredients like spring onions and a hint of green chilli paste.

1 cup jowar (white millet) flour
1/2 cup finely chopped spring onions whites and greens
1/4 tsp green chilli paste
1 tsp oil
salt to taste
jowar (white millet) flour for rolling
1 tsp oil for cooking
  1. Combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl and knead into a soft dough using enough hot water.
  2. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a 125 mm. (5") diameter thick circle using a little jowar flour for rolling.
  3. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and cook each roti, using ¼ tsp of oil, till brown spots appear on both the sides.
  4. Serve immediately.

This recipe made using jowar flour, spring onions and very little chilli is great for breakfast as well as to eat for snacks.
