Ingredients

To Be Roasted and Grind Together Into A Smooth Powder
2 tbsp chana dal (split bengal gram)
2 tbsp urad dal (split black lentils)
2 tbsp grated coconut
2 tbsp coriander (dhania) seeds
2 tbsp fenugreek (methi) seeds
5 dry whole kashmiri red chillies
1 clove
1 cardamom (elaichi)
a pinch turmeric powder (haldi)
1/2 inch cinnamon (dalchini) stick
1/4 tsp oil

Other Ingredients
2 cups cooked rice (chawal)
7 long and elongated green brinjal (baingan / eggplant)
2 tsp urad dal (split black lentils)
2 tsp chana dal (split bengal gram)
2 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
of tamarind (imli) soaked in water
few curry leaves (kadi patta)
salt to taste
Method
    Method
  1. Cut brinjals into cubical shape. Soak the brinjals in water in which 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder and salt is added.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seed, urad dal and bengal gram, curry leaves.
  3. Add brinjals and saute for some time and add tamarind extract and simmer for 5 minutes or till the brinjals are boiled completely and no water is remaining in pan.
  4. Add 3 tbsp prepared powder and stir for 2 minutes.
  5. Add cooked rice thoroughly.
  6. Garnish with fresh chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
