French Fries is a succulent snack of fried potatoes that has stood the test of time, enjoyed by people of all age groups, across geographies. However, without the right accompaniments, this finger food can be a bit too bland for the spice lover! Here, we present Masala French Fries, with a dash of spices that is sure to please the desi palate! In order to get the perfect crispness outside and the right softness inside, make sure you do not overcook the potatoes.

2 large potatoes , peeled and cut into fingers
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) powder
1/4 tsp black salt (sanchal)
salt to taste

Other Ingredients
oil for deep-frying
lemon wedges to serve

  1. Parboil the potatoes in salted water for 5 to 7 minutes.
  2. Drain and keep aside.
  3. Mix the chilli powder, cumin powder, black salt and salt in a small bowl and keep aside.
  4. Deep fry the potato fingers in hot oil over a medium flame till they are crisp.
  5. Drain on absorbent paper and sprinkle the masala mixture on top.
  6. Serve hot, with lemon wedges and ketchup.

  1. For really crisp french fries, use the variety of potatoes with a higher starch content popularly known as French Fries Potatoes/chip potatoes.
  2. In Maharashtra, they are called Talegaon potaotes.

Who dosen't like french fries? Everyone does ad so do i.. It is my most favourite tit-bit.. masala makes it even more tastier. these spicy fries are just fab!

excellent tips provided for crispy fries! A lip smacking dish just got better with all the indian masalas! yummy!
