3/4 cup chopped fenugreek (methi)
1 cup besan (bengal gram flour)
1/4 cup finely chopped coriander (dhania)
1 1/2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
1/4 cup finely chopped onions
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
a pinch of baking soda
salt to taste
oil for deep-frying

  1. To make methi pakoda, combine all the ingredients and ½ cup of water in a deep bowl and mix well using your hands.
  2. Heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan and drop small spoonful of the mixture, a few at a time into the hot oil and deep-fry on a medium flame till they turn golden brown in colour from all the sides. Drain on an absorbent paper.
  3. Serve the methi pakoda immediately with green chutney and tomato ketchup.
