Green Pea Pattice is a delicious Indian snack made using fresh green peas, boiled potatoes, and mild aromatic spices. The peas are lightly cooked, mashed, and combined with potatoes to give a soft yet firm texture. Seasoned with ginger, green chilli, and garam masala, the mixture is shaped into patties and shallow-fried until golden and crisp. These pattices have a crunchy outer layer and a soft, flavourful centre. Green Pea Pattice is perfect as an evening snack, party starter, or tea-time treat and tastes best when served hot with green chutney or tomato ketchup.

Tips for Green Pea Pattice Recipe

1. Ensure Proper Binding:
If your mixture feels too soft or crumbly when shaping the pattice, you can add a little more arrowroot flour to help it bind well and hold the shape while frying.

2. Remove Excess Moisture from Peas:
Squeeze any extra water from the crushed green peas before mixing with coconut and spices this helps prevent the pattice from falling apart and makes them crispier when fried.

3. Season Thoughtfully:
Taste the pea stuffing before assembling adjust salt, lemon juice, or chilli paste so the centre has punch and contrasts well with the potato layer.

4. Do Not Overcrowd the Pan:
While deep-frying, fry only a few pattice at a time. Overcrowding lowers the oil temperature, leading to soggy, oily patties instead of crisp golden ones.

5. Drain Properly:
Place the fried pattice on absorbent paper immediately after frying to remove excess oil and keep them crisp.

6. Serve Fresh & Hot:
These are best enjoyed immediately with tomato ketchup and green chutney they lose crispiness if left to cool too long.

7. Creative Variations:
You can try adding chopped coriander or mint to the stuffing for freshness, or shallow-fry instead of deep-fry for a lighter version.
