For The Apple Mixture
5 tbsp grated apples
1/4 tsp saffron (kesar) strands
1/2 tsp lemon juice
1 tbsp sugar

For The Sandesh
1/2 cup chopped paneer (cottage cheese)
2 tbsp powdered sugar
4 tsp milk
For the apple mixture

    For the apple mixture
  1. Combine the saffron with a little water in a broad non-stick pan, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 30 seconds.
  2. Add the lemon juice, sugar, grated apples, ½ tablespoon of water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 8 to 10 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Keep aside.

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a mixer and blend till smooth.
  2. Transfer the mixture into a deep bowl and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
  4. Flatten it lightly. Make a depression in the centre using your index finger.

  1. Just before serving, fill each depression in the sandesh with a portion of the apple mixture. Serve immediately.

My dadi is a big fan of Bengali mithai. Using your chenna recipe, I have tried rose sandesh which is her favorite . This is an easy to make recipe. I will make for her on Sunday. Thanks for the recipe Tarla Ma''am!
