Spicy orange rice recipe - How to make Spicy orange rice
Cooking Time: Total Time:    
3 table spoon of oil
1 tablespoon of butter or ghee
1 tablespoon of cumin seeds
1-2 red whole dried chilies
1 bay leaf or tamalpatra
2-3 whole black pepper
1 medium onion, sliced
1 cup brown or white rice
1 teaspoon orange zest
3 tablespoon of pulpy orange juice
1 tablespoon ginger paste
1 tablespoon of chili paste
½ tablespoon of garlic paste
2 cups vegetable stock or 2 cups of water
salt to tasteCilantro leaves and orange slices for garnishing
- 1) take a pan and add oil and butter. add dried chilies, bay leaf and whole black pepper into it. now add cumin seeds.
- 2) when the cumin seeds splutters add onions till they are translucent. add the ginger, garlic and chili paste now.
- 3) now add rice and sauté them for 1 minute or until they look crispy.
- 4) add the orange zest and orange juice.
- 5) add the vegetable stock or water. add salt to taste. cover the pan with a lid and cook over low heat for 20 to 25 minutes or until rice is tender.
- 6) garnish it with orange slices and cilantro.
