Ingredients
Main Ingredients
1 1/2 cups soaked and boiled rajma (kidney beans)
1 1/2 cups soaked and boiled kabuli chana (white chick peas)
2 cups chopped green chawli (amaranth) leaves
2 tsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1 tsp finely chopped ginger (adrak)
2 tsp finely chopped garlic (lehsun)
1 tsp finely chopped green chillies
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 tsp chilli powder
2 tsp coriander-cumin seeds (dhania-jeera) powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
salt to taste
2 tsp lemon juice
Method
- Heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds.
- When the seeds crackle, add the ginger, garlic and green chillies and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
- Add the onions and sauté on a medium flame for another 1 minute.
- Add the chawli leaves and again sauté for 1 more minute.
- Add the chilli powder, coriander-cumin seeds powder and turmeric powder and sauté on a medium flame for 1 minute.
- Add the rajma, kabuli chana, salt and 3 cups of water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes, while stirring occasionally. Mash the dal slightly using a potato masher.
- Add the lemon juice and mix well.
- Serve immediately.
