Main Ingredients
1/2 cup brown rice
1/4 cup yellow moong dal (split yellow gram)
1/4 cup sliced cauliflower
1/4 cup peeled and sliced potato
1/4 cup sliced brinjals (baingan / eggplant)
1/4 cup sliced onions
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tbsp green paste
1/2 tsp garam masala
salt to taste
Method
- Wash and soak the rice and moong dal in enough water for 15 minutes. Drain and keep aside.
- Heat the pressure cooker and when hot, add the cumin seeds and dry roast on a medium flame for a few seconds.
- Add cauliflower, potatoes, brinjals, onions, turmeric powder, chilli powder, green paste, garam masala and salt. Mix well and dry roast on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.
- Add the drained brown rice, moong dal and 2 cups of water, mix well and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
- Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
- Mix gently and serve immediately.
