Masala khichdi recipe - How to make Masala khichdi

1 1/2 cup rice
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
4 - 5 curry leaves
3-4 green chillies (finely chopped)
1 medium onion(not chopped but in small pieces)
1 medium tomatoe
1/4 inch ginger finely shredded
1 tsp chilli powder
salt to taste
little haldi

  1. Dissolve rice in water for 30 minutes before cooking.
  2. a pressure cooker, put oil, jeera, curry pata, green chillies, onion(not chopped but in small pieces)
  3. 2.stir this mixture for 5 mins till it gets pink.
  4. 3. then put tomatoes, ginger, red chilli powder,salt to taste,little haldi and whistle it.
  5. 4. put 4-5 whistles.
  6. *** after you put tomatoes add little water in the mixture.
  7. 5. open cooker, add rice, put little water. the water should cover the rice level.
  8. 6. whistle 2 times , simmer the gas.
  9. 7. after 5 minutes open the cooker. if rice is not soft add little water and boil it.
  10. Taste the salt and then serve.
