There is no debating that Chia seeds are good for your health. A treasure trove of omega-3 fatty acids, which is hard for vegetarians to come by, these tiny seeds are also loaded with fibre and protein.
It is interesting to note that this easily digestible little seed has antioxidants (ALA), which trigger energy production in the body. This makes it an amazing food for endurance athletes. While chia seeds are great to have just plain, mixed in water, this Energy Chia Seed Drink with Lime and Honey is an even tastier way to enjoy this wonder seed.
With a dash of lime and honey, the otherwise tasteless chia seeds become fabulously tasty. You can sip on this refreshing drink any time you wish. Another healthy way in which many athletes consume chia seeds is by mixing a tablespoon of chia seeds and a scoop of protein powder in half a cup of coconut milk.
- Combine the chia seeds, honey, lemon juice and 2 cups of water in a jar and mix well.
- Cover and keep refrigerated for atleast 1 hour.
- Just before serving, stir and drink.
