Ingredients

5 medium sized red apples
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup bread crumbs
1 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
4 tsp butter
Method

  1. Peel and chop the apples.
  2. Heat a deep pan and put 1 tsp butter in it.
  3. when it has melted add the apples.
  4. Saute for 2 minutes and then add the water.
  5. Allow the apples to cook and become soft.cover the pan with lid and put on slow heat to cook.
  6. When cooked,coarsely mash with a masher or flat spoon.
  7. Let some pieces be visible partially.mix in the cardomom
  8. In another pan melt the rest of the butter and saute the bread crumbs on low heat.
  9. Allow the crumbs to become light brown.
  10. Add the sugar to it and stir till it is melted and has mixed well with crumbs.
  11. When the apples are cooked, on a flat dish arrange a layer of the crumbs and put the layer of apples on it.
  12. Cover with a thin layer of crumbs again.
  13. Bake in oven at 300 degrees for6-8 mins.
