Watermelons are now available throughout the year, yet the tropical watermelon smoothie turns out best when the juicy, crunchy fruit is in season. The high water content of watermelon is perfectly balanced by the addition of bananas, coconut milk and ice-cream.

Preparation Time: 
Makes 2 big glasses

2 1/2 cups chilled , deseeded and roughly chopped watermelon (tarbuj)
4 tbsp chilled roughly chopped bananas
1/2 cup chilled coconut milk
1 cup vanilla ice-cream
4 tbsp sugar

For Serving
4 tbsp crushed ice

  1. Combine the coconut milk, vanilla ice-cream, watermelon, bananas and sugar and blend in a juicer till the mixture is smooth and frothy.
  2. Pour equal quantities of the smoothie into 2 individual glasses.
  3. Serve immediately topped with 2 tbsp of crushed ice in each glass.
