You can also stir in 1/2 to 3/4 cup grated cheese or 2 teaspoons prepared mustard and a dash of worcestershire sauce after cooking the basic white sauce.

2 tbsp butter or margarine
2 tbsp plain flour (maida)
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup milk


  1. Place butter/margarine in a dish and haet on high for 20-30 seconds.
  2. Stir in flour and salt.
  3. Add milk,stirring until smooth.
  4. Cook on medium for 3 to 4 min.
  5. And your white sauce is ready.
