Herb Pizza Base recipe | Indian style herb pizza base |

The Herb Pizza Base is a simple yet flavorful foundation for any homemade pizza. Unlike a plain base, this Indian-style pizza base is infused with aromatic seasonings right from the start, ensuring that every bite of your pizza is bursting with flavour. The recipe starts with a mix of everyday ingredients, creating a dough that is soft, pliable, and perfect for holding your favorite toppings. This base is an excellent way to elevate your pizza-making skills and create a dish that feels both authentic and special.

The key to a light and fluffy pizza base lies in the preparation of the dough. The recipe calls for activating dry yeast with a small amount of warm water and sugar. This process, known as "proofing," gives the yeast time to work its magic, causing the dough to rise and become airy. After a quick resting period, the yeast is combined with plain flour, a hint of sugar, and a touch of salt. The addition of a tablespoon of olive oilmakes the dough soft and pliable, giving it a smooth texture that's easy to work with.

What truly sets this Herb Pizza Base apart is the use of aromatic herbs and spices. The dough is seasoned with dried mixed herbs and a sprinkle of dry red chilli flakes. These ingredients not only add a wonderful aroma but also provide a subtle warmth and a gentle kick of spice. Kneading the dough until it's soft and smooth ensures that these flavours are evenly distributed. After a quick rest to allow the dough to double in volume, it's ready to be shaped and baked. The result is a base that is flavourful on its own, making it the perfect canvas for your chosen sauce and toppings.

Baking the pizza base is a quick and straightforward process. Each portion of the dough is rolled into a thin circle and pricked with a fork to prevent it from puffing up too much during baking. The base is then baked in a pre-heated oven for just 5 to 7 minutes. This short bake time creates a partially cooked base that is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. You can store these partially baked bases for later use, making them a handy option for quick meals. Simply add your favourite toppings and bake again until the cheese is melted and bubbly. This Indian-style herb pizza base is a must-try for any home cook looking to create a delicious and memorable pizza.

I tried this at home and it has a completely different taste than those you get in the shops. Plus its home made pizza base without any preservatives..very nice.

Hi Tarla Dalal Team! Such wonderful collection of recipes! Thank you. Quick question reg this recipe - Do we need to dissolve the yeast in warm water seperately first, before adding it to the flour? Thanks!

I just love fresh dough pizzas. I always made pizzas with plain pizza dough, but yesterday I made pizzas with the Herb Pizza dough. Wow! The pizzas turned out to be more flavourful ....very, very tasty. This recipe makes a perfect pizza crust, the proportions are just right. I used dry yeast. I roll the pizza dough, spread the pizza sauce and top it with onions, peppers, zucchini, paneer and corn, bake it in the tandoor for a while, then top it with grated mozzarella cheese and bake again till the cheese melts and there are golden brown spots on it. Just one bite into the pizza and everyone in the family said....Wow!
