Apple, Banana and Date Salad recipe | Indian Date and Apple Banana Salad |
The Apple, Banana, and Date Salad, also known as Indian Date and Apple Banana Salad, is a delightful and nutritious fruit medley that offers a perfect balance of sweetness, tanginess, and varying textures. This simple yet elegant recipe is a testament to how fresh fruits, when combined thoughtfully, can create a truly satisfying dish. It’s an ideal choice for a healthy breakfast, a light snack, or even a refreshing dessert, bringing together common kitchen staples into a harmonious blend.
The foundation of this vibrant salad lies in its core fruit ingredients. It features a generous 2 cups of apple cubes (unpeeled), providing a crisp texture and a tart-sweet counterpoint. Accompanying the apples is 1/2 cup of sliced banana, adding a creamy, soft element and a mellow sweetness. The richness and natural caramel notes come from 1/4 cup of chopped dates (khajur), which also contribute a chewy texture and a boost of natural energy.
The magic that truly ties this fruit salad together is its bright and zesty dressing. This simple yet effective concoction begins with 1/4 cup of readymade pineapple juice, which provides a sweet and tangy base. To this, 1/4 tsp of lemon rind is added for a fragrant, aromatic lift, complemented by 1/2 tsp of lemon juice for an extra burst of freshness and tang. A unique touch comes from 1/4 tsp of mustard (rai/sarson) powder, which adds a subtle, intriguing warmth that elevates the overall flavor profile.
To balance the tangy notes and enhance the sweetness, 1 tsp of powdered sugar is incorporated into the dressing. The seasoning is completed with salt to taste, ensuring all the flavors are harmonized. Once all the dressing ingredients are combined and whisked thoroughly, they create a smooth, pourable mixture that coats the fruits beautifully, infusing every piece with its delightful essence.
Assembling this Indian Date and Apple Banana Salad is straightforward. All the prepared fruit components—the apple cubes, sliced banana, and chopped dates—are placed in a large bowl. The ready dressing is then poured over the fruit mixture. A gentle toss ensures that each piece of fruit is evenly coated with the flavorful dressing. Designed to serve 4, this salad is best enjoyed fresh, offering a burst of natural flavors and nutrients that make it a truly enjoyable and wholesome addition to any meal.
