- 1 tbsp melted ghee
- salt to taste

- 2 tsp ghee
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg (jaiphal) powder

In a bowl out 3/4 cup whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta).

Add 1 tbsp melted ghee.

Add salt to taste.

Add enough water to make a dough, about 1/3 cup.

Knead into a soft dough.

Cover and keep aside for 15 minutes.

Divide it into 6 equal portions.

Heat 2 tsp ghee in a broad non-stick pan.

Add 3/4 cup grated fresh coconut.

Cook on a medium flame for 5 to 7 minutes, while stirring continuously.

Remove from the flame, add 1/2 cup powdered sugar.

Add 1/2 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder.

Add 1/2 tsp nutmeg (jaiphal) powder.

Mix well.

Divide the stuffing into 6 equal portions and keep aside.

Heat 2 tsp ghee in a broad non-stick pan.

Dust a rolling board with whole wheat flour.

Flatten the dough ball with your palms and place on the board for rolling.

Roll out each portion into a 150 mm (6") diameter circle using a little whole wheat flour for rolling.

Place roti on hot greased tava.

Fold it over to make a semi-circle.

Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and grease it with ghee.

Place the suffted roti on the tava.

Cook the roti for 10 seconds and grease the top. Remember to press down with a spatula when cooking the roti every time. This ensures the stuffing gets well cooked all over.

Flip over.

Again grease the roti and cook for 10 seconds.

What a unique recipe!!! I have prepared this roti quite a few times and everyone loves it especially my kids who eagerly wait for me to prepare it.
