Ingredients
1 cup crumbled grated low fat mawa (khoya)
1/2 cup chopped dried figs (anjeer)
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp ghee
1/4 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
1/4 cup chopped mixed nuts (pistachios , cashewnuts and almonds)
ghee for greasing
Method
    Method
  1. Combine the dried figs, sugar and ½ cup of water in a broad non-stick pan, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes or till all the water evaporates, while stirring occasionally.
  2. Add the mawa, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring continuously.
  3. Add the ghee and cardamom powder, mix well and cook on a medium flame for another 2 minutes or till the mixture turns light brown in colour, while stirring continuously.
  4. Add the mixed nuts, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 more minute, while stirring continuously.
  5. Transfer the mixture in a 150 mm. (6?) diameter greased plate and flatten it evenly using the back of a spoon. Keep aside at room temperature for 2 hours or till it sets.
  6. Cut into 9 equal square pieces.
  7. Serve immediately or store refrigerated in an air-tight container.

It came out well taste wise, but I felt it wasn''t binded too much Could you tell the reasons for the same?

Tarla Dalal    May be the mawa was over-cooked. So ensure to follow the proportion of ingredients and cooking time exactly.

Tarla Dalal    mawa is reduced form of milk.. which is solid in state.
