Urad dal is generally associated with south indian breakfast items like idli, dosa and vada. Or, you might have used it to make dals. Here is how you can include this protein-rich ingredient in your rotis too. Urad dal roti has a pleasant texture and an aesthetic flavour brought about by traditional indian spices.
- Combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl, mix well and knead into a soft dough using enough water.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll each portion into a 125 mm. (5”) diameter circle using a little whole wheat flour for rolling.
- Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and cook each roti, using a little oil, till it turns golden brown in colour from both the sides.
- Serve immediately.
