  1. Combine the besan, chilli powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida, salt and approx. ½ cup of water in a deep bowl; and mix well.
  2. Heat the oil in a deep non-stick kadhai, dip a few bananas slices in the prepared batter and drop it in hot oil. Deep-fry on a medium flame, till they turn golden brown in colour from all the sides. Drain on an absorbent paper.
  3. Serve immediately.

how to make besan batter

 

    1. To make banana bhajiya, kela bhajia, in a deep bowl, add 1 1/4 cups besan (Bengal gram flour).

    2. Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi).

    3. Add 1 tsp chilli powder.

    4. Add 1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing).

    5. Add salt to taste.

    6. Add about 1/2 a cup of water. You may require 1-2 tbsp more depending upon the quality of the Besan.

    7. Mix well using a whisk and keep aside. Make sure that there are no lumps.

do we use raw banana or ripe banana in this ?
