This "Sandwich House" recipe offers a playful and delightful Indian-style twist on a classic, transforming simple bread slices into an edible architectural marvel. Beyond its charming presentation, it's a layered explosion of vibrant colors, fresh textures, and a harmonious blend of sweet, savory, and tangy notes. Perfect for kids and adults alike, this creative recipe combines readily available ingredients to craft a truly unique snack or light meal that’s both fun to make and delicious to eat.

The foundation of this colorful sandwich lies in its three distinct fillings, each bringing a unique flavor and hue to the "house." First, a fresh lettuce mixture is created by combining shredded lettuce with a hint of green chutney and a pinch of salt, offering a refreshing and subtly spicy base. Next, a vivid beetroot mixture comes to life with grated beetroot blended with creamy mayonnaise and seasoned with salt, adding an earthy sweetness and a beautiful pink layer. Finally, the carrot mixture introduces a bright orange layer, made from grated carrot, rich cheese spread, and aromatic dried mixed herbs, seasoned to perfection. These mixtures are divided into equal portions, setting the stage for the sandwich's construction.

The construction of the "Sandwich House" begins with preparing the bread. All the crusts are carefully removed from ten bread slices, ensuring a soft, uniform base. Five of these slices are then buttered, ready to form the core layers of the house. From these buttered slices, three are selected to start the building process. On a clean, dry surface, one buttered slice is laid down, and a thin layer of tomato ketchup is evenly spread over its unbuttered side, adding a sweet and tangy kick to the foundation.

The layering truly begins as the next buttered bread slice is placed atop the first, with its buttered-ketchup side facing upwards. A generous portion of the vibrant beetroot mixture is then spread evenly over this slice, creating the first colored "floor" of the house. The third buttered bread slice follows, again with its buttered-ketchup side facing upwards, and a portion of the lively carrot mixture is spread over it, forming the second colorful layer.

To complete the main structure, a fourth bread slice, buttered on one side, is placed buttered-side down on top of the carrot layer, gently pressed to secure all the elements. The ingenious touch that gives this sandwich its "house" shape comes from the fifth buttered bread slice. This slice is diagonally cut into two triangles. These triangular pieces are then strategically placed over the main sandwich, on two opposite sides, cleverly forming a charming rooftop for the house. To hold this delightful edible architecture together, toothpicks are used to seal all four sides, ensuring stability.

The entire process, from buttering and layering to creating the distinctive rooftop, is then repeated to craft a second identical sandwich house. Just before serving, to enhance the visual appeal and add another layer of freshness, about half a cup of shredded lettuce is spread evenly on the serving plate, creating a green "lawn." The finished sandwich house is then carefully placed on this verdant base and served immediately, offering a visually appealing, delightfully flavorful, and thoroughly enjoyable Indian-style snack.

Sandwich was good. Few suggestions. Do not mix lettuce with green chutney. Instead spread green chutney to these slices. Dont add salt to this layer. Also, do not spread the tomato ketchup as it will further soften the bread. Just use ketchup as a dip.
