November-December 2011 Issue
It’s been a joyous season of festivals since September, but we haven’t had our fill of the festivities! With Diwali over, it’s time to look forward to Christmas and the New Year, and quite naturally our preparations start in the kitchen!
But before we get to Christmas, let us not forget another significant day - 14th November – which was Children’s Day, and celebrated every year on the anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday. He loved children, as do all of us. They are our future, and deserve to be treated as special. We have some treats for kids in this issue, designed by my team of nutritionists – fun activities that will help children to learn the importance of food in a playful manner. Since World Diabetes Day also falls on the same day, we have also focused on the treatment of juvenile diabetes.
For Christmas, we’ve lined up a range of unique recipes, starting with some yummy chocolate treats. We also have comforting warm drinks to help face the cooler temperatures. If you go overboard with the festive food, you can try our flavoursome Indian soups, which are as easy on the pocket as they are on the stomach! Go easy on the liquid celebrations this year; Prachi Patodia Saraf has shared some important tips on how to tackle alcohol during the party season!
I hope you have a wonderful time over Christmas and the New Year. May the coming year bring you twice as much happiness, joy and prosperity as this one did. Stay healthy and happy!
