May-Jun 2009 Issue

ISBN: 818949144-X

This issue is dedicated to children as well as their mothers, and provides unusual and fun activities for the summer vacations. The trick is to involve kids in planning and executing activities such as a lunch or tea party. Not only will children remain occupied, they will have a sense of accomplishment at creating something new. We’ve provided simple menus with dishes that your child and her friends will enjoy making. Another interesting feature provides tips for mothers who want to bake cookies with their little ones.

Summer is also the season for everyone’s favourite fruit, the mango! I’m really grateful to my friend Leena Tandon for sharing new dessert recipes that feature this undisputed king of fruits. In keeping with the season, we have tongue-tingling recipes for dips that children will find hard to resist. A special treat is the recipe for an Indian version of Japanese Sushi, something that will certainly impress your guests!

For our health conscious readers we have a range of informative articles on a variety of topics: Dr. Surya Bhagwati suggests ways to control blood pressure with Ayurveda; Dr. Parul Saheba creates awareness of ozone therapy; and Naini Setalvad provides tips on how to keep healthy on a vacation. One of the highlights of this issue is a report on a cookery competition for blind women, an event that truly opened my eyes to the courage and determination of those who cannot see.

There is a lot to read in this issue, including our popular regular features such as recipes for diabetics and Jains, and craft ideas. We have started new features on microwave cooking that will be of interest to regular as well as new users of this wonder gadget as well as on Numerology predictions by Mr. Bhavikk Sangghvi.

Stay cool and out of the sun this summer!
