An easy version of the traditional meetha chawal.

Ingredients

Method
  1. Mix the rice and SugaRite or sugar.
  2. Heat the ghee in a broad vessel and fry the cinnamon, cloves and bay leaves for a few seconds. Add the rice.
  3. Warm the saffron in a small vessel, add 2 tablespoons of water and rub until it dissolves. Add to the rice.
  4. Cook the rice on a slow flame until the SugaRite/ sugar melts. Taste and add a little SugaRite/sugar if necessary. Decorate with almond and pistachio slices.
  5. Serve hot.
