Born long ago in the arab world, the baharat powder is now used the world over as a flavouring for soups and salads. An elaborate spice mixture with many aromatic and flavourful ingredients, a pinch of baharat is enough to perk up any preparation. Roast the ingredients till warm before grinding to enhance and preserve the aroma longer.

Method

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a kadhai and dry roast on a slow flame for 3 to 4 minutes or till they release a pleasant aroma. Keep aside to cool.
  2. Blend in a mixer to a fine powder and use as required. Store in an air-tight container.

this powder is used in various Lebanese rice dishes to make it more flavourful. it can also be used to marinade vegetable.
