1/4 cup toovar (arhar) dal
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
salt to taste
1 tsp oil
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)

Method
For arhar ki dal with spinach
- To make arhar ki dal with spinach recipe, combine toor dal, tomato, turmeric powder and 2 cups of water in a pressure cooker.
- Pressure cook it on a medium flame for 3 whistles. Allow the steam to escape and then open the lid.
- Whisk the dal well and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a deep non-stick pan, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves and onions.
- Sauté on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes. Add garlic and ginger-green chilli paste and mix well.
- Add the spinach and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
- Add the cooked dal, salt to taste along with 1 cup water. Mix well and cook on a medium flame for 4 to 5 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
- Serve arhar ki dal with spinach hot garnished with coriander.
