Blend Into Green Masala Paste Using 1/4 Cup Water

Method

For matar ka nimona
 

  1. To make matar ka nimona recipe, purée 1 cup green peas in a blender using 2 tbsp of water and keep aside.

  2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a deep pan, fry the potato sliced till light golden brown, remove and keep aside.

  3. In the same oil add the green peas puree and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until well combined.

  4. Heat the remaining 2 tbsp oil in the same pan and add bayleaf, cardamom and cumin seeds and sauté for 30 seconds.

  5. Add the tomatoes and mash and cook on medium flame for 2 minutes.

  6. Add the prepared green masala paste and turmeric powder, sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes.

  7. Add the remaining 1/4 cup green peas, fried potatoes, cooked green peas puree, salt to taste and 1 1/2 cups of water.

  8. Mix well and cover and cook on a medium flame for 8 to 10 minutes, while stirring occasionally.

  9. Serve matar ka nimona hot with steamed rice.
