Ingredients
For Makai Upma
1 1/2 cups coarsely crushed sweet corn kernels (makai ke dane)
2 tsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
1 1/2 tsp chopped green chillies
1/2 cup milk
salt to taste
1/2 tbsp lemon juice
For The Garnish
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
Method
- To make makai upma, heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan, add the cumin seeds and let the seeds crackle. Add the mustard seeds, asafoetida and green chillies and mix well.
- Add the corn, milk, salt to taste and mix well.
- Cook on a slow flame for about 9 minutes, while stirring every 30 seconds.
- Add the lemon juice and mix well.
- Serve the makai upma immediately garnished with coriander.
